Paper-cut Theatre With Self-Portraits

The looming climate catastrophe, the pandemic, the social upheaval and now a war in Europe – the world I live in seems to be changing radically. I cannot see any real solutions to the various dilemmas facing humanity, and that makes me feel helpless and depressed.

More and more often, I feel the need to distance myself from this reality and to deal with what I have experienced photographically, to distract myself a little and to lose myself in my creative work. It is a kind of creative escapism.

On the stage of my small silhouette theatre, I act out little plays as a mini-actor that surrealistically depict my examination of the world around me. The scenes often contain elements from my childhood dreams. The photographs by Gilbert Garcin and the dream sequence from the Hitchcock thriller ‘I fight for you’ by Salvador Dali inspired me to create this photo series.
